Tips for improving your
searches
To find documents with all of the
specified words/phrases, use the plus sign (+). For
example, enter +milk +recording to find out about milk recording.
To exclude specified words/phrases, use
the minus sign (-). For example, enter milk -recording
to find out about milk topics that don't deal with recording. (There
should be no spaces between the operator (+/-) and the word you wish to
include/exclude.)
Put your search items in quotes (" ") if
you want to find an exact phrase match. For example, a
search on "dairy genetics" will retrieve documents
that contain this phrase.
Use the asterix (*) to search for a
group of words with the same pattern. For example, searching for
butter* will retrieve matches on butter, buttermilk, butterfat, etc.
Enter several synonyms when searching
for items under a specific topic. For example, if you are looking for
information on genetics, try typing in cow, cattle, heifers, semen, and embryos
as well.
Use uppercase to retrieve
case-sensitive matches. Using lowercase
results in a case-insensitive search. If you are unsure, use
lowercase. For example, a search for milk would retrieve matches for
milk, Milk, MILK, etc. while searching for Milk would only
retrieve matches on Milk.
The Canadian Dairy Information Centre (CDIC) is of a partnership between Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) , the Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC), the Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC), and the Dairy Processors Association of Canada (DPAC).
