  • Where do I find information that I need to start a dairy business?

    Your provincial milk marketing board or agency should also be able to help you out with this. The Canadian Dairy Commission also has an Information Kit (documents on farming and processing in Canada). Contact them by telephone: (613) 792-2000 or e-mail: cdc-ccl@agr.gc.ca. For financial information contact your nearest Farm Credit Corporation office or call 1-888-332-3301, and their web-site is http://www.fcc-sca.ca/.

  • How do I obtain milk quota?

    The provincial milk boards and agencies manage milk quotas.

  • What are the rules, regulations and guidelines in place to ensure production of high-quality Canadian dairy products?

    This information is available on the CDIC at http://www.dairyinfo.gc.ca/_english/dr/index.html or click on "Dairy Regulations".

    The Dairy Farmers of Canada have a Farm Food Safety Program (Canadian Quality Milk) that lists all the guidelines. Specific dairy rules and regulations are available on this site at the following address: http://www.dairyinfo.gc.ca/_english/msq/index.html

    The Canadian Food Inspection Agency regulates quality at the processing level through regular on-site inspection, and more information on their programs can be obtained from them: www.inspection.gc.ca.

  • Do you have health and nutrition information for dairy products?

    Although we have such data, it's beyond our mandate. Your best source for health and nutrition is the Dairy Farmers of Canada and Health Canada.

  • Is the Dairy Market Review on-line now?

    The Dairy Market Review has now been replaced with a new joint publication "Statistics of the Canadian Dairy Industry " located in the Publications and Bulletins section of our website. For your convenience the "Statistics of the Canadian Dairy Industry" publication downloadable in Acrobat Acrobat (PDF) format.
